Hello everyone, my name is Yan Xiang, and I work as a documentation specialist. Over the past few years in this role, my three biggest areas of growth have been:
First, evolving from "knowing how to prepare documents" to "understanding risk control." Initially, I just focused on getting the paperwork done. Now I can review letters of credit in advance, anticipate discrepancies before they arise, and mitigate collection risks. I have gained a deeper understanding of the security logic behind the principle of "document-to-document consistency and document-to-letter-of-credit consistency."
Second, stronger communication and coordination skills. This role requires interfacing with sales, factories, freight forwarders, customs brokers, banks, and clients. If any one link gets stuck, it affects shipment and document presentation. I've become more steady, more thorough, and more patient in managing all of those relationships.
Third, performing under pressure with zero-defect attention to detail. Cut-off deadlines for documents, customs, and presentation all converge at the same time. One error on a single shipment can mean deductions or delays. I can now maintain a zero-mistake standard even under high pressure.
Future career goals: I want to continue deepening my expertise in trade documentation and foreign trade operations, developing toward a more comprehensive trade business role. My goal is to master the full chain end to end. My long-term goal is to become a foreign trade process and risk control expert, ensuring every shipment is safe, smooth, and efficient.
